How the crazy idea of Pool Model Railroad
(Model railway under the pool table)...

...the figure manufacturer Schrumpfmich.de was created: 🍿

It was Christmas 1979 when the brothers Peter (now 55) and Andreas Schulz (now 50) received a gift that would shape their childhood: a model railway. Excited by the new world in miniature format, they began to design their model railway. But as so often happens, the gift disappeared wrapped up in the attic after a short time and interest evaporated. The story seemed to have a classic ending.

40 years later, something unexpected came into their lives - the corona pandemic. The world stood still, contact bans and restrictions shaped everyday life. Andreas, a tattoo artist, and Peter, an IT systems technician, could no longer pursue their jobs as usual. Boredom and the need for a creative activity became apparent. In the midst of these circumstances, they came up with the idea of reviving the old model railway project. What began as a childhood memory was now to shine in a whole new light.

The project was documented with the support of their mutual friend Dirk (also 50 today). All using an iPhone. A REEL has 6.8 million views ;) Dirk said one evening: "If you hammer the track under the table, I'll make videos and open the channels. PMR was born. Dirk is an old hand at marketing SBOs (small, owner-managed companies) using authentic videos. And he's been doing it for 20 years. So they used photos and videos to document the reconstruction of their model railway under the pool table and shared their progress with the world. This is how the idea for "Model Railway Under the Pool Table" was born - a creative hobby that was more than just a nostalgic project. It became a passion that went far beyond the pool table and conquered the digital world.

But that was just the beginning. Now to Schrumpfmich.de: Peter and Andreas wanted to make their model railway even more unique. They had the vision of not only using standard figures, but also integrating the people who are important to them in miniature form (3D MINI figure) . This gave rise to the idea of founding a company that enables people to create their own miniature figures. Under the name "Schrumpfmich.de", customers can have their own photos converted into miniature figures - a very personal memory for the model landscapes or as a gift.

The passion and vision of the two brothers and their friend are reflected in every step of this extraordinary project. What began as a simple model railway idea developed into a creative adventure that connects both the past and the present . Today, not only they themselves, but also their customers can experience a piece of their history in miniature - a memory that will always remain, no matter how big or small.

Model railway under the pool table and Shrink Me - two projects that were born from a spontaneous idea and became a true heart project for family, friends and customers. An adventure that is told with passion and creativity and that shows that it is never too late to make dreams come true and create something great together.
